The Denver Zoo team approached ROXBOX to develop a mobile concession stand for their newest attraction, Down Under—a three-acre immersive space showcasing the wildlife of Australia and New Zealand. The challenge was to design a concession stand that was not only durable and seamlessly blended into the outback-themed aesthetic of the park, but also mobile, allowing it to be relocated within the park as needed.

Enter Joey’s at Down Under—a beautifully crafted, custom steel frame modular concession stand designed and built by ROXBOX. This unit will serve beverages, snacks, and exclusive Down Under merchandise to guests exploring the new space.

Measuring 16’ x 10’, the structure offers ample room for essential concession equipment and a spacious, ergonomic workspace for staff. Featuring exterior (and interior ceiling) cedar siding, exterior ACM panel walls, FRP interior wall coverings, epoxy flooring, and stainless steel countertops, the unit is built for durability while seamlessly blending into the outback-themed aesthetic of Down Under.

Designed with functionality in mind, the sloped roof meets Denver’s strict snow and wind load requirements, while an HVAC system ensures a comfortable environment for employees year-round. A roll-up counter shutter provides security and protection when the park is closed.

To enhance mobility, permanently affixed caster wheels allow for easy relocation throughout the park as needed.
